Announcing 2013 Fair Royalty!

The 2013 Boulder County Fair Queen: Mandie Larson

Boulder County Fair

Mandi Larson is from Erie Colorado, and is the 17 year old daughter of Brian and Dee Larson. She is a junior at Erie High School; she has been a member of 4-H where she participates in the veterinary science program. Mandi loves to run barrels on her one-eyed palomino paint mare named Jenny, in many different jackpots and gymkhanas.

In the year 2011 she won third place in a buckle series called T4 gymkhana. She is now working on training her new horse Hoyt who is a three year old gelding, to be her new barrel horse. Mandi relaxes by reading one of William Shakespeare’s many plays. After high school she plans to go onto college, and major in equine and medical sciences.

Being the Boulder County Queen is a full time job where Mandi attends many clinics learning the grace and expectations of being in the Royalty program. Then she attends many public events throughout the year promoting the Fair. She believes in preserving the “rodeo” heritage and supporting the 4-H program. Mandi is honored to represent the Boulder County Fair and Rodeo, and her Community for this next year.

Malinda is a sophomore at Colorado State University majoring in Animal Science. She has been a 4-H member for 11 years and through these fun years she has explored various projects and leadership roles. 4-H became the foundation for her dream to aspire to become a veterinarian.

At CSU, Malinda is a member of the Collegiate Cattlewomen’s Club and the Block and Bridle Club. She is also an Ag Ambassador and on the Ag Council. Recently, Malinda, helped create and educate for CSU’s Ag Adventure exhibit at the 2012 and 2013 National Western Stock Show. She is currently a column writer for the college newspaper, The Rocky Mountain Collegian, where she communicates the importance of agriculture to CSU students. Outside of school she dedicates her time volunteering at the ice rink where she utilizes her 12 years of expertise and teaches people of all ages the basics of ice-skating.

Malinda has a passion for 4-H and it is through this experience that she will promote the Boulder County Fair, Livestock Show, and Rodeo to the community.
